MEOW WOLF | KALEIDOSCAPE SAFETY VIDEO

Pre-ride Safety Video for Meow Wolf's Interactive Thrill Ride at Elitch Gardens, Denver.

 

 

 

THE CLIENT
Meow Wolf is an arts production company that creates immersive, multimedia experiences that transport audiences of all ages into fantastic realms of storytelling. Their work is a combination of jungle gym, haunted house, children’s museum, and immersive art exhibit. This unique fusion of art and entertainment gives audiences fictional worlds to explore at their two permanent exhibitions, House of Eternal Return in Santa Fe, Omega Mart in Las Vegas, and Convergence Station in Denver.

 

THE BRIEF
We were asked to create a pre-ride safety video for a thrill-ride concept that MEOW WOLF was comissioned to design and build 'Kaleidoscape'. The interactive art installation would call the Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park home. The amusement park located in Denver, Colorado was already well-known for its exhilarating roller coasters, family rides, water rides and entertainment. The concept needed a fun and exciting safety video to be displayed onsite, for visitors to watch prior to boarding the ride.

 

THE CHALLENGE
This creative project was unique because MEOW WOLF asked us to promote their new ride that wasn’t even yet built. For this reason, it required a lot of understanding about what they were aiming to accomplish. In the trailer we wanted to communicate the basic story arc and give a sneak peek to this unique, mysterious, and artistic new ride.

 

THE INSPIRATION
We relied on sketches and ideas from the original concept deck, drawing upon elements that symbolized the basic foundations of the ride. To emphasize the journey from minimal to maximal, we moved from a simple dot of light to a smorgasbord of elements including 2D and 3D animation.

 

THE DELIVERY
The end result was a fun take on the classic airline safety video, with a psychedelic twist.
